WIP Wednesday - Corrugated rainbow ribbing
I heart rainbows continues. I decided to add a hem of corrugated ribbing, but I am unsure which cast off to use. Any suggestions?

WIP Wednesday - I heart rainbows progress
This time a modelled shot. It is so much easier when you have the recipient there to try it on. Thankfully not too big, despite a little fudging of the sizes. I'm loving it so far.
Now trying to decide whether to add another mini rainbow (maybe one row for each colour) a two row rainbow to whether to just continue in the biscuit colour before the bottom garter stitch border.
That is before any decisions about button bands!

Sunny Baby Blanket
At Christmas last year my "other" Bridesmaid announced she was expecting baby number one in June 2013. I was over the moon with excitement for her, but with a tiny baby myself I was wondering if I would ever get the time to make her a blanket to match the one I made for Lauren. Kerry is the person who taught me to crochet; she knits too - so it had to be something very special.
As the weeks turned into months I finally had a couple of hours in the evening to myself and a plan began to form (after many hours of browsing baby blankets on Ravelry - inspiration from here, here and here).
I started in the middle of May with four colours of Baby Cashmerino and a vague idea:
I made a lot of circles and edged them in off white.
This is the first time for a while that I have made squares that need to be seamed and it made me particularly undecisive.
I evenutally made the decision to add more colours to balance the dark and light hues so dug into my stash of Baby Cashmerino and I ended up with 8 different colours for the centres of the squares.
After a last minute purchase of a ball of orange yarn I finally had 57 squares crocheted and what I thought would be just enough off white to add a border.
However, deciding which pattern to use was challenging. I spent three evenings swapping and changing squares and taking pictures.
With some help from Twitter and Ravelry I eventually decided on number 6 - Big diagonals.
It took a couple of evenings to join the squares. I was worried I'd end up messing up the pattern, or that my small people would mix up my carefully ordered piles; however it went without a hitch. I used Lucy's granny square joining tutorial - which made a lovely flat, neat seam.
After more deliberation I added the border from the pattern, but only had enough yarn to do one repeat of the front post crochet round.
And here is the ta-daaah moment!
Another success I think - it arrived in Surrey today and I know it will be loved and cherished.

Off White - ecru (101) - just over 5 1/2 balls.
Pink - candy pink (006)
Light blue (baby blue 204)
Teal - Mallard (59)
Dark Pink/purple - Hot Pink (60)
Orange- Apricot (63)
Light gray - silver - (12)
Dark gray - Dark gray (58)

WIP Wednesday
See, there is knitting going on here!
A "Granny's Favourite" in King Cole Bamboo Cotton for T's best friend who is 3 the day after him (on Monday). Luckily, she is a little dot, so I'm making the 2 year old version, with slightly shorter sleeves. This is designed to "go with anything" - and will hopefully be a very useful addition to her wardrobe. Sleeve one was completed this evening, which gives me two more evenings to finish this before K's party on Saturday. I haven't even thought about buttons.

7 months
There has been crafting, but most of it is secret or I haven't had a chance to take photos!
My two are keeping me busy, Em is now 7 months
She can sit unaided, is trying to shuffle forward and is very vocal! Thomas will be three in a couple of weeks. Where does the time go?

Making Monday - Playful Stripes
If there is one pattern I've been meaning to make for years it is this one - Playful Stripes
I bought the pattern back in 2009 and have thought about casting on numerous times but have never quite managed it.
So, as my little girl has kindly given me my evenings back, I have made her a cardigan.
It took me a couple of weeks, and I'm lucky it didn't take much longer as it only just fits (I made the 3 month size and she is 3 months this week)
I'm not convinced she likes it, or maybe it is just the photographer she is sticking her tongue out at...

More ripples, a cardigan and tiny socks.
Yet another blanket is in progress. This time I get to keep it, as it is for baby #2, due in a week.
I started this on the 8th October, so I doubt it will be finished in time for the new arrival - unless of course it delays it's arrival for a couple of weeks!
Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino again, this is what I planned when I started....
I am using Lucy of Attic 24's Neat Ripple Pattern again, but this time using the series of integrating stripes she used with her most recent ripple. Each set of 4 rows takes about 25g of yarn. The blanket is 10 repeats of the pattern using a 4mm hook.
It has been growing slowly... as of 17th October
and then today, 22nd October
I've changed the colour sequence a little, as I needed to buy a couple more balls of yarn (not enough gold/yellow to make a set of rows and it needed the yellow), but I should have more than enough to complete it now.
I'm still not great at project monogamy, so I've also been working on a little cardigan for our Jubilee year baby. Beyond Puerperium - 0-3m in fingering weight.
and some matching socks
I've 20g of yarn left, so I reckon I can squeeze a hat out of the skein of sock yarn (The Yarn Yard Toddy in Jubilee).

African Flower Blanket for Emily
My latest crochet baby blanket is an African Flower Blanket for baby Emily who arrived a few days late at the start of October.
Once again, I have been inspired by the amazing palette of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.
This time coming up with a variation on a rainbow - with hexagons rather than stripes or rounds. I used about 25 different shades (mostly from my stash) plus cream for the flower part.
I started making this at the beginning of August and have been working on it on and off for a couple of months. Each hexagon took me about 30 minutes. The blanket is made up of 59 hexagons and 8 half hexagons.
I joined the hexagons as I went along, loosely using the instructions here and I made up some half hexagons to fill in the ends on the 6 hexagon rows.
I added a border of double crochet followed by a round of shells (1dc, skip 1 (or two on the long side), 5 tc into next) -the shells were meant to mirror the insides of the flowers.
The blanket weighs 570g and measures 85cm x 100cm - large enough to wrap around my toddler - and hopefully big enough for my good friend Lauren and baby Emily to snuggle under on the sofa.
